The Crescent City Model Railroad Club (CCMRC) is home to one of the largest HO scale layouts in the Gulf South. We are located in Metairie, Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans (aka the Crescent City). We model a fictitious railroad, called the Crescent Lines, whose mainlines carry freight and passengers to and from the beautiful south.
The Crescent City Model Railroad Club will once again be participating in the TCA sponsored Ponchatoula Train Show at the First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula, 325 E. Pine St., Ponchatoula, LA.
Come see us and try your hand at our "Timesaver" switching layout.
We will have Crescent LInes commemorative 60th Anniversary Club cars available, Crescent Lines Coffee mugs and CCMRC stickers available for sale. Also you will be able to add to your collection of Model Railroader Magazine as we will have a large selection of complete years of MR available for puchase for only $4.00 per year.
The show is from 9 AM to 3 PM in the school gym. Admission is $5.00 a person, children 6 and under are free. The train show is held in Ponchatoula in conjunction with the Ponchatoula Trade Days & Craft Fair.
Clinic and Operation Day
On Saturday, October 22, 2016, The Crescent City Model Railroad Club hosted it's first Lone Star Region, NMRA Division 2 clinic and operating session day. Basic Electrical and Electronics for Model Railroading and Wiring for DCC clinics were presented by Division 2 Director Rod Fredericks, and a Track Warrant Control (TWC) Operations Clinic was presented by Jonathan Esposito. Lunch was served featuring jambalaya, French bread, dessert and soft drinks or bottled water. In the afternoon we had a Track Warrant Control Operating Session to put in use and practice what we learned in the TWC clinic.
We had 17 attendees from the CCMRC and from the Midsouth Model Railroad Club and one new visitor who has now signed up to be a member of the CCMRC.
In all it was a fun day with good friends and good food. We learned some new things and got to operate the Crescent LInes. This is what model railroading and NMRA membership is all about.

The National Train Day Open House held by the Crescent City Model Railroad Club on May 14, 2016 was a big success. We had a great turnout of visitors and many new faces that came to "Ride the Crescent Lines" for the first time. We had many familiar faces come back to visit too. Visitors had fun finding detailed items by searching through the scavenger hunt while kids had fun running trains on the children's layout downstairs.
There was a 50/50 cash donation raffle and another for a gift basket of donations from Hub Hobby in Metairie, Mike's Train and Hobby Center in Kenner and Electric Train Depot in Ponchatoula.
Our guests had a chance to see and hear some great looking trains running along with some new improvements to the layout as well as some work in progress in the port and Crescent City Industrial District.
We will be back for a Summer Open House on Saturday July 16 from 12 - 6 pm. The next open house after that will not be until the Saturday after Thanksgiving in November.
Our membership would like to thank all who came out to see us and hope that you can join us again soon.
