Revision of Standards
« on: April 28, 2010, 07:53:18 PM »

Just to let everyone know, I am working on getting the new standards wrote up and printed up so everyone can see them and make any suggestions before I do a final draft. Also need input for the equipment ( cars and locos) and DCC. Know some of the cars standards, ie couplers, weight. So if anyone can think of any more for cars and ones for locomotives and DCC, please let me know.

Dave - We probably should be adding layout wire routing somewhere in the standards.

We should be keeping the close facia (closest to the isle) clear of wires running them instead along the back (in front of the legs). This may be more important later when we run the control bus for any DCC cab system later. One of the problems Lou had was the proximity of control bus to the rest of the wiring (track & turnout power lines).  Having all those "electric noise" generating wires close to one bundle will help make them avoidable (they can cross at 90 deg.) when we run the signal sensitive lines around the layout.  Walter also suggested that this control bus be run in eithernet cable -maybe that should be in the standards as well..

Just a thought.

I'm going to try to make it to the club this week but since I have a mountain of dirt to spread and a bathroom being renovated at the house, don't count on me showing up at the club anytime soon.  I do want to replace the sinding at the club in about 2 or 3 weeks - Ken wants to help..

See ya soon,
John
